The hall is known locally as the Reading Room. The inscribed plaque in the gable reads J.H.W. 1900 — very likely standing for Joshua Hirst Wheatley who bought Berkswell Hall in 1888. The foundation stone, half hidden by the banner, is seen close up in Image Not listed.
