Tiverton: towards Hatherland Mill Farm

The Exe valley floodplain with the course of an old leat to the mill heading towards the trees on the right. This leat course marks the boundary between Tiverton and Washfield parishes. There was a mill at Hatherland in 1286 and the leat still ran to it in 1838, although by that time it had probably ceased to be a mill. The building with the corrugated rough is very possibly on the site of the medieval mill. Hatherland Wood is beyond
