Formerly the Head Post Office, this building in Priory Terrace was built in 1870. Although at one time under threat of demolition fortunately sense prevailed and it was redeveloped and extended (the new sorting office extension can be seen behind) between 1975 and 1978. With Post Office rationalisation it now has one of the few surviving Post Office counters in the district.
