Built originally as a windmill around the middle of the 18th century, this structure lost its sails after a relatively short time, and before the end of the 18th century it had been converted into a doocot (dovecote) serving the Melville Estate as a source of fresh meat during the winter. Now in the care of the Cupar and North Fife Preservation Society it was restored in 2006/2007.
