A40 Westway elevated overpass curves around between White City and Paddington, and at this point is partly over the canal and towpath. Note the bridge pier - one of the two pads between the pier and the roadway has electrical connections, presumably instrumentation gauges to measure load or vibration. For close-up of pad see Image
