After laying derelict for at least a decade the former Haywards Builders' timber yard is being cleared to create a new Tesco store immediately opposite Waitrose. The shed on the left is the last part of those premises intact - apparently it still has services such as electrical power connected. Hidden behind the house is the former cinema site, more recently used as a car showroom and tyre centre, but now demolished. Behind the woodyard site a former fruit warehouse has gone. The foreground house is also on the demolition list, but also has live services at present - see the garage door.
