Formerly the White Horse, a grade II listed building dated late C18. Rendered with a heavy cornice above the ground floor. Passage archway to left and an early C20 elaborate doorway to right. Originally called the White Horse and Griffin, for a while it was known as the White Horse, but then reverted to its full name again. The first stage coach from Whitby to York ran from here in 1788.
