On a wintry Sunday the lines of doomed locomotives out in the yards at Swindon Works look utterly forlorn, especially the nearest - and strangely symbolic - 'King' 4-6-0 No. 6010 'King Charles I' (built 4/28, withdrawn 6/62 - 2½ years before this photograph); in front is a 'Grange' 4-6-0 and smaller engines.
