The Oddfellows refers to a number of friendly societies and fraternal organisations which were set up to protect and care for their members and communities at a time before the welfare state, trade unions and National Health Service existed. Many of them still exist today, although on a smaller scale than in the past. Pubs with the name Oddfellows or Oddfellows Arms were almost certainly used in the past as a meeting place by an Oddfellows lodge. Image Image
