Built in the 1960s to replace the cramped Victorian terraces that had been cleared as part of a slum clearance. Image, Image, Wood Street, Whitecross Street, Redcross Street, and the western side of Pelham Street were all obliterated with Wood Street removed from the map and Redcross Street left with a truncated stub at the southern end of the car park in the foreground.
