This view is looking towards Beckenham Junction, from the foot crossing at the end of the Tramlink stop behind. The track on the left beyond the fence is for the railway line between Birkbeck and Beckenham Junction, opened in 1858 as a double track. The up line was taken out of use in February 1983 which eventually gave the space for Tramlink in 2000. Trains on the left hand line terminate at Beckenham Junction as well, and so a single track is quite sufficient, but there is no stop at Avenue Road. There is also only room for a single Tramlink track to Beckenham Junction but a passing loop is provided here.
