William Sylvester Harley who founded the Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Company with Arthur Davidson in 1903, was the son of William Harley who was born in Littleport in 1835. He left Littleport in 1860 and emigrated to the USA. In 2003 the Littleport Harley centenary celebration was held and culminated in the unveiling of the Harley memorial. The artwork is a life size interpretation of a 1936 'El Knucklehead' motorcycle made from stainless steel. See Image for artwork plaque.
