St Mary's Church dates back to the 13th century, although there is reference in the Domesday Book to an earlier church here, dedicated to St Mary. Despite the name of the village, there is no river or stream called the Dunsmore; Dunsmore is in fact a district name and there are several villages in east Warwickshire with this affix.
