View SE, towards White City and Kensington (Olympia); ex-GW Kensington (Uxbridge Road Jct.) - Old Oak Common loop line, paralleling the Underground Central Line. The train is probably the afternoon Class D Wood Lane - Plymouth milk empties, the corresponding full tankers having come up from Penzance overnight - seven days a week. Here the locomotive is '2883' 2-8-0 No. 3814 (built 3/40, withdrawn 12/64 but preserved - now on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway).
