Taken from its junction with Ship Street. The 100 yds sign refers to the railway bridge whose arch can just be seen at the end of the road. It bears the following number Image and is situated well above the pavement, which is protected from vehicles negotiating the tunnel by an enclosed railing. There is not enough room in the tunnel for passing traffic so there are traffic lights at each end to control it. The building with a pointed dormer roof was divided into two shops, the left one became Broadmead Stores but it is now closed.
