The station opened on 18th July 2011, two days before this photograph was taken. Early stages of its construction in December 2009 can be seen in Image The station gives fast access between the airport (now styled "London Southend Airport") and Liverpool Street, London. The line passes the site of the 2012 Olympic stadium at Stratford and it is expected that many visitors to the games will arrive and depart via here.
