These were the 'Union Works' of Josiah Parkes & Sons and date from the 1930s. The firm was established in the 1840s but disappeared following consolidation in the 1960s and takeovers in the 1990s. The Union name is now used by Assa Abloy, a Swedish company, who also own the Chubb and Yale brands.
