This pub was originally called The Black Horse but was renamed by the local brewery, Elgoods of Wisbech in the 1980's when they closed The Black Hart in Rings End a few miles away. Allegedly there is no other pub in the country called The Black Hart so to keep the name alive it was moved to this pub. It relies primarily on passing trade for its business as there are only a small number of inhabitants in this hamlet but according to local sources one man has drunk in the pub regularly since the outbreak of World War 2. A recent article in the local press suggested that this pub may soon close due to ever dwindling trade. If it does where will Elgoods move the name too I wonder?
