Converted to residential accommodation after a period of dereliction the grammar school can trace its history back to a founding in 1608 and was owned by Jesus College, Oxford (which of course has very strong Welsh links) until 1918. It boasts an impressive list of old boys, such as Evan Seys, an Attorney General to Cromwell, Sir Leoline Jenkins, a Secretary of State to King Charles II, Evan Evans a Master of Pembroke College, Oxford and more recently, erm... Sir Anthony Hopkins, the actor.
