The 'Gate Inn' on the A40 at Scleddau

Quite a startling sight as you head along the A40 - but one of many boldly painted properties in West Wales. The name 'Gate Inn' refers to the toll gate which once stood here - bitterly resented by local people, as ceridwen has pointed out http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/296451. Notice that the pavement just in front of the pub lies a couple of feet below the level of the present roadway - presumably the result of measures taken to level out the carriageway in fairly recent times.
