Established by Aelhaearn in the 7th C, the church, which is cruciform in shape, was substantially remodelled in Victorian times. Inside is the gravestone of ALIORTVS ELEMATIACO, a man who died far from his homeland, Elfed (Elvet), in what later became West Yorkshire.
