This hotel on London Road began life as a private residence called Waterden Crescent. It became the Waterden Court Private Hotel in 1925. Enlarged, it was re-incarnated as the Carlton Hotel in 1968. Today, it is the upmarket Mandolay Hotel. www.guildford.gov.uk
