Housing at Southwold

This set of housing is sited on the old Southwold Gas works. Founded in 1848 by George Edmund Child (son of the local ironfounder) gas was flowing by september that year. The first ever gas holder (gasometer) was sited here. Not far away was the Southwold railway, probably the source of coal. See also Image]
