In the south aisle close to the Lady Chapel. "Dedicated to the memory of James Gibb Shaw by friends in Montreal, Canada AD 1896". Putting the name into Google found (on ancestry.ca) that a James Gibb Shaw had a father Robert Shaw born around 1805 and a mother Catherine Torrance born on 25 December 1806 in Montreal, Canada. The current 2011 guide to the church calls him James Gibbs Shaw. According to the Victorian Daily Colonist dated 23rd July 1893, a James Gibbs Shaw was resigning as Montreal Port Warden to leave for England.
