View eastward, towards London; ex-GWR Paddington - Reading and the West main line. The train on the Down Fast is headed by the first of Hawksworth's 'Modified Halls', No. 6959 'Peatling Hall' (built 3/44, named 12/46, withdrawn 12/65). Southall Locomotive Depot is on the right and beyond it the branch to Brentford Dock, closed to passengers 4/5/42 but for goods not until 31/12/64. The DMU is witness to the fact that the Paddington suburban trains were already worked by DMUs in 1961. (See also Image]).
