La Chouette is a very good Belgian Restaurant in the beautiful village of Dinton. Chouette is an interesting word - "chou" is cabbage, so "chouette" could be little cabbage - and as such has become a term of endearment. Alternatively, chouette can also mean "great" or "the great one". However, this restaurant's sign gives the clue as to yet another meaning for the word - which is a rather old-fashioned (I believe) word for an owl, more usually referred to as "l'hibou" these days apparently - though I'm ready to be corrected by any French (or Belgian of course) visitors to this site !
