This stile sports several waymarks, perhaps one for each walker who has fallen off it! It looks innocuous, but like many stiles the plank is slippery in wet weather. The real problem is that the post is too wide to grip securely with one hand and it is slippery too. The barbed wire round the post doesn't help either. The Dales Way leaves the drive to Lakethwaite here and crosses a field.
