This is Bridge No 99 across the Trent and Mersey Canal. Over the 234 years since the canal opened, some bridges will have been demolished as surplus to present day requirements, especially lift bridges, swing bridges or small accommodation bridges. Other newer bridges, especially railway bridges constructed in the 19th and 20th centuries, and wide replacement road bridges built in the 20th and 21st century will have added to the tally. So, the number on a Trent and Mersey Canal bridge (counting from Preston Brook) can no longer be relied upon to list the bridges on the route. One day I may count the bridges which are presently in place. Mmm! ;-) There's an "artist" living in the boat with the umbrella ahead. He's been there for about six years, I think.
