These forbidding gothic premises, dating from the 1870s, were built for Robertson & Orchar, a Dundee textile machinery manufacturing company. In 1914, they became the headquarters of the jute company, A & S Henry. A calender is "a machine that smooths or glazes paper or cloth by pressing it between plates or passing it through rollers". The building has been converted into private apartments.
