These were Gresley's first 2-8-0's, Class O1 (reclassified to O3 in 2/44 when Thompson introduced his 'Group Standard' O1 class), designed for the mineral traffic that was so important on the GN main lines; No. 3491 was built in 10/19, withdrawn in 12/50.
