Brandwood Fold, in the village of Edgworth, to the north east of Bolton, was the birthplace of Sir Thomas Barlow, Bt. K.C.V.O., F.R.S., M.D., B.Sc., F.R.C.P. 1845-1945, Royal Physician to Queen Victoria, King Edward VII, and King George V.
