The view looks across to the new housing on the old Bexley Hospital site. The ‘Heath Asylum’ as it was originally named, was built to house over 2,000 patients. It opened its doors to the first of these on the 19th September 1898.The hospital declined from the 1970s but continued to be in use until its eventual closure in 2001.
