Metro Cammell Carriage & Wagon Works Main Office Block

This was the main office block of the Metro Cammell works in Washwood Heath. Railway vehicles designed and built here continue to serve not only British railways but also railways around the world including the Hong Kong Mass Transit Railway, the Kowloon Canton Railway and also the Channel Tunnel. The works were taken over by GEC Alsthom in 1989 and later devolved into the Alstom Group. After building the tilting "Pendolino" trains for the West Coast route modernisation the works were closed in 2005.
