Lincoln Castings, previously known as George Fischer Ltd. manufactured tools and equipment for the automotive, engineering and defence industries. It had a production capacity of 80,000 tonnes per year but went into administration in September '06. Most of the staff were made redundant just before Christmas (isn't it always the way!) and the foundry closed its doors for the last time in February '07.
