This small building in the centre of the dam houses the valve control gear for regulating the flow of water from Knypersley Reservoir. The reservoir is owned by British Waterways and is used for keeping up the water levels in the Trent and Mersey Canal via the Caldon Canal and for ensuring a regular supply of water entering the River Trent.
