On the night of 7 July 1979, the 17.55 passenger train from Belfast to Londonderry hit a stalled car at Artiferral level crossing, situated at MP47.47 north of Dunloy. Sadly, one passenger on the train was killed. The 3-car 70-class set involved (71+725+714) was soon recovered with assistance from both the NIR and CIE steam cranes, although recently refurbished 714 was damaged beyond repair.
