This chapel was built in 1864, when an earlier was no longer able to take the enlarging congregation. This church can seat 250 people, which was about half the population of the village when it was first built. It was built of local stone quarried and transported free by local farmers. In 1880, the building was enlarged to provide a Sunday School room with space for 60 children. The photo shows its magnificent pipe organ which was installed in 1895. In 1912 petrol vapour lights were installed in 1912 and replaced by safer and more efficient electric lights in the 1930s. Image Image
