Part of a garden wall, to the east of the stable block. As I understand it - and I could be wrong - the various colours arise through the firing of bricks at different temperatures. The blue bricks result from particularly high temperatures, and some have a glazed appearance, referred to as 'vitrification'. The bricklayer seems to have used the various colours quite haphazardly, resisting any temptation to introduce a pattern. The wires attached to the wall have been used in the training of fruit trees, espalier fashion.
