Who knows what this might have looked like if the plans of a Victorian entrepreneur had been realised? Ravenscar is dubbed 'The town that never was'. It was planned as a rival resort to Scarborough and Whitby; roads were laid out, sewers laid and plots marked up ready for sale. Alas, it did not prove a popular venture and in 1911 the company went bankrupt and Ravenscar remained much as we see it today. To the right is Cliff House with magnificent views over the cliffs and the North Sea.
