This National Trust owned property is actually a forge, not a foundry, and a demonstrator is showing how hot metal is hammered under the country's only working water powered tilt hammer (a tail helve hammer). The hammer shaft and head appear to be a reused shaft and crank assembly. The assembly was installed in 1816 and was secondhand then. It worked until 1960.
