Four days later this building (on the southern side of the site) was damaged by a serious fire. To quote from a media report “More than 60 firefighters tackled a blaze at the five floor Hilden Mill on Saturday afternoon. No-one was injured and the fire was brought under control, and DOE officials have been advised that the building - a Victorian textiles mill - appears to be stable. "I commend the valiant efforts of around 60 firefighters to bring this fire under control and save these buildings," said [Environment] minister Alex Attwood. "Their prompt response has ensured that the Hilden Mill complex - although damaged significantly - has not been destroyed. They have my admiration and sincere thanks."” Continue to Image
