The lake is a nature reserve, managed by the RSPB. Much of the reserve area is reed-bed, with the main stretch of open water - long and fairly narrow - lying north-south on the east side. This is a view north along the eastern shore, by Radipole Park Drive. In the distance, the Weymouth suburb of Radipole.
