A plaque on the front of the building informs that Alkerton House has been remodelled round a Tudor core. It was once owned by Edward Pleydell who was MP for Cricklade and was acquired by Joseph Pitt in 1815. He was a lawyer and MP and developed the Pittville area of Cheltenham. See: Image]
