View southward, towards Crewe etc.; ex-London & North Western Crewe etc. - Manchester main line. The first of Sir William Stanier's great new 4-6-2 design, introduced in 1933, No.46200 'The Princess Royal' is on a Plymouth - Manchester (London Road) express at Stockport (Edgeley), near the end of its journey. It was a busy time, with several other trains to be seen at this important station.
