Viewed looking from the top of the flight of stairs to the eastbound platform this is Wembley Stadium railway station. The Great Central Railway opened their Wembley Hill station on this site in 1906, thus predating Wembley Stadium by some 17 years. The station's name was changed to Wembley Complex in 1978 before getting its current name in 1987. When it was first built the railway had another set of tracks for fast through trains, where the grassy patch is now, and going under the road bridge through the central span. The bridge carries the A479 Wembley Hill Road over the railway.
