Add a multi-storey car park to an existing railway station and you have - if you are the sort of marketing man or spin doctor who likes such terms - a 21st-century transport hub. A E Lambert's Midland Railway booking hall and porte cochère of 1904 - terra-cotta-faced and with art nouveau tendencies - will be retained and refurbished; its distinctive clock tower is on the right.
