Outside the Shed, a typical Class 08 350 hp Diesel-electric 0-6-0, one of those built from 1953 in large numbers - and a few are still around in 2011. No. 3096 was built in 12/54, following on from pre-war SR examples (see Image]) and finally ousting the steam shunters in the large marshalling yards at Hither Green. (Behind it is one of the useful C class steam 0-6-0's).
