On a wooden framed box (possibly to hold the bread?) just inside the church is this painted message: '1855' (or 1833?) 'Anthony Yeats. Gives 2 loaves of bread, to be distributed amongst 12 Poor Persons, resident in the townships of Old Hutton and Holmescales, who attend Evening Service in this Chapel.'
