The Bridge Inn is one of a number of small pubs in the thinly populated country to the north-east of Carlisle which somewhat surprisingly has not succumbed to the fate of so many country pubs. The "Bridge" in question is in fact the bridge over the Liddle Water, more than a kilometre away. The board announces the opening of the pub later in the morning as part of the Royal Wedding celebrations. The house opposite appears to be an old chapel.
