Former Peckham Bus Garage (1)

Situated in Peckham High Street, SE15 5ED, this bus garage was opened in May 1951 in connection with the 1950-52 tram replacement scheme and occupied a three-acre site between Peckham High Street and Hanover Park. Because it was said to be expensive to run and there were concerns about its ferro-concrete roof, it closed in January 1994, and was replaced at the same time by a new depot in Blackpool Road not far from the previous site, TQ3476 refers. A bus station and supermarket now occupies the area of the former garage.
